Community Jazz Ensemble

This Summer, Trinity Lutheran Church is hosting a Community Jazz Ensemble for Musicians in Crown Point and surrounding Communities.  The Ensemble began practicing in March of 2005 and already has one performance “under its belt”.

This group is “educational” in nature and the music played is for the educational benefit of the members and the audiences before whom it performs; no charge is made for performances by this group within the local community and no “membership fees” are currently required of members to join.

The music played is mostly “Pop Standards” from the 1940's and 1950's.

Currently, the Jazz Ensemble is looking for local musicians who play any of the following musical instruments:

a.)  Trumpet (third and fourth trumpets)

b.)  Trombone (third and fourth Trombones)

c.)  Saxophone (second, third and fourth Saxophones)

d.)  Jazz Flute (back up)

e.)  Drums/Trap Set (second drummer)

f.)  Keyboards (back up)

g.)  Male Vocal (back up)

Whether you are a “seasoned music professional” or just “dusting off a Musical Instrument you really haven’t played since college”, interested people should contact Tom Parry, the group’s founder and guitarist, by E-Mail at Tom-cat@Prodigy.net for additional information and rehearsal times.

In addition to performing in local events, in 2006, the Ensemble hopes to “open the Church to the Public” and provide “Swing Dance Parties” during its weekly rehearsals.  The idea of the “Swing Dance Parties” is in loving memory of Carl Sapper, Senior, who was an active member of the congregation and an avid swing dancer prior to his untimely passing several years ago.
