Trinity Lutheran Hosts First Back to School 5k Fun Run
Proceeds to benefit School Scholarship Fund

CROWN POINT–Getting by giving? Runners of races understand this counterintuitive and rejuvenating concept---and nine times out of ten, they reap dividends for their sacrifice. Trinity Lutheran School at 250 S. Indiana Ave is hosting its first 5K Fun Run and Blood Drive on Saturday, September 10, to reinvigorate the hearts and bodies of many people in need well after the race has been run. Starting time begins at the school at 8:00 am and ends at 12 Noon.

As a participating race hero who brings a non-perishable food item to the Trinity Lutheran School’s 5K Fun Run and then gives blood to the American Red Cross, runners (and walkers) will be replenishing the lives of hungry people with food products. The runners (or walkers) will also be getting an extra dose of the “good-feelings” that such participants universally enjoy!

Blood donations are optional for the stouthearted and the non-squeamish. To pre-register for the event prior to September 3, participants are being asked for a $25 donation. Those registering after September 3 may do so for a $30 donation. All registered runners and walkers will receive a race t-shirt to commemorate this community-focused event. For more information and to register, visit www.trinitycp.org or call 219-661-2847.

Trinity Lutheran School is an educational ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Crown Point that serves students from preschool through 8th grade. It is accredited by both the State of Indiana and the National Lutheran School Commission. Trinity Lutheran is approved for state vouchers.

Trinity School Crown Point Opens registration
School seeks to identify future leaders for the church, school and society.

CROWN POINT– Trinity Lutheran School in Crown Point will host its annual school registration day and open house on Thursday, August 4 from 9:00 am to 11 am in the morning and from 3:00 to 7:00 pm in the afternoon and evening. The 2011-2012 school year begins on Wednesday, August 18

Trinity Lutheran School offers an environment where children can foster a life of fellowship towards others and an excellent curriculum for learning. Trinity school believes that God has provided children with enthusiasm, excitement and a sense of wonder, provides a place to support and help parents through a child’s educational process, and a place for students to learn through exploration and interaction.

Trinity Lutheran School

The goals of the school are to lead students to share Christ and their faith story in an unbelieving world, focus on a mission of bringing the Gospel to their families, continue the process of self-evaluation and improvement through the National Lutheran School Accreditation, to meet or exceed state and national academic standards at all grade levels and to identify future leaders for the church, school and society.

During the Registration and Open House, the fully accredited school will exhibit its academic, music and sports programs, while school teachers and staff will be on hand to answer questions from parents.

Trinity school is open to students from pre-school to eighth grade, and is nationally recognized by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod as a National Lutheran Accredited School (NLSA). In this regard, Trinity did an extensive self-study in which it had to pass 12 different areas of evaluation. It then was examined by a team of educators on a site visitation. The School Improvement Plan is written and submitted for this purpose annually. Trinity Lutheran School is also accredited with the State of Indiana, and meets or exceeds the educational standards set by the state. All Trinity's teachers are licensed with the State of Indiana., and the school annually administers the ISTEP tests.

TRINITY LUTHERAN RAISES $61,000 IN FUND RAISER $1,000 for Soup?

CROWN POINT– At a recent fund raiser, which consisted of a fellowship dinner at the Avalon Banquet Center in Hobart, and an auction, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and School, 250 S Indiana Avenue raised over $61,000 for its church and school programs. Among the highest bids were a soup recipe which sold for $1000 and was prepared by Trinity school teacher Karol Ketcher, and a pizza recipe, which also sold for over $1000 and was prepared by Tom and Laura Pavlovich, members of the church. The event was the second annual successful fund raiser for the Lutheran church and school. Last year, a similar event raised over $45,000. All auctioned off items that went for $500 or more were matched by Thrivent Financial Services for Lutherans.

Adding to the church and school coffers in recent days was an anonymous gift of $10,000, which will pay for a Billboard at US 231 and Broadway in Crown Point that promotes Trinity’s Lutheran School, and other communication and marketing projects.
