Indiana awards Trinity Lutheran School with full accreditation status

Crown Point - Having once again met all the criteria established by the Indiana Department of Education (INDOE), Trinity Lutheran School has been awarded full accreditation status.

Rob Gardiner, executive director of Trinity Lutheran Church and School, says, "The school has consistently met the standards provided by the National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA), and that the state has now recognized this criterion as a working plan for school improvement."

Gardiner says he is proud of school Principal John Schultz and the entire teaching staff for working with Trinity Lutheran students to achieve this important academic honor.

In addition to the NLSA comprehensive school improvement plan, Trinity has met every academic standard set by the state. Trinity students attend school from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Principal Schultz says, "The students are taught by fully licensed teachers who administer the INDOE curriculum through the academic standards set by the state. These standards are enhanced by the Lutheran curriculum of integrating the Christian faith, as part of our student education."

As a result of consistently high academic standards, four Trinity students were recently inducted into the National Junior Honor Society: Chiamara Anokwute, Olivia Pillar, Andrew Schwimmer, & Alyssa Vajda. The Society is specifically designed for middle school students and these students qualify for the honor.

In addition, these inductees are among all Trinity students who take and excel at the ISTEP tests. Schultz further reports that "most Trinity students will go on to high school and become involved in accelerated placement classes. Several of Trinity alumni have finished in the top ten academically in their area high schools."

Tracking the success of its students, studies have found that many Trinity students have been placed in high school accelerated placement classes, and finished academically in the top ten percentile of their area high schools.

"Trinity is proud to be counted among the exemplary schools across the state. This accreditation is an indicator of our focus on excellence in education," says Schultz.

NEW CONTEMPORARY SERVICE
CROWN POINT - A new contemporary worship service is being offered each Sunday at 8:15 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 250 S. Indiana in Crown Point. Members of the community are invited to attend the service by entering the east entrance to Trinity's day school and follow the signs. Parking is available on the east side of the school. The new service was added in an effort to reach a segment of the population who seek a "lighter" version of the traditional Lutheran liturgy with modern hymns accompanied by the Praise Band and vocalists in a relaxed setting. The contemporary service joins the four other services offered by Trinity including worship on Saturday evenings at 6:30 p.m.; Sunday mornings at 8 and 10:45 a.m.; and Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Communion is offered at all the services including the contemporary service. For more information about the contemporary service or about Trinity ELC call the church office at 219-663-1578.
