Christian Essentials: Trinity’s Winter session of Christian Essentials will begin on Feb 3rd, 7PM-9PM
In this class we will get to know some of the history of Trinity Lutheran Church in Crown Point. We will get to know about
creation and Christian Stewardship, about sin and its consequence, about Jesus and all He has done to save us, and about the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives. We will also get to know about baptism, confession and absolution, and the Lord’s Supper. It is a time to ask the questions you have always wanted to ask about Christianity and life. It is also a great time to get to know some of the people who will be new members in the congregation. This is a six week session
World Vision 30-Hour Famine:
World Vision 30-Hour Famine is an event for youth and adults. A servant event where we can say, “Someone gets to live another day.”, for each $1 we raise!
We go without food [a juice fast] for 30 hours to:
raise money to feed the hungry through World Vision by getting sponsors, and
raise awareness of hunger-related problems through educational activities,
personal experience (being hungry), and service ministry.
We will participate in the Famine January 23rd& 24th, 2015.

Child Protection Training:
All volunteers and staff working with children (anyone under 18) must be Child Protection Policy certified. Certification for those over 18 includes: 1) filling out a Volunteer Application, 2) permitting a Limited Criminal History background check, and 3) attending a 55 min. to 1 hour training session. [Note: sensitive issues concerning child abuse and it’s prevention are presented in this training session.] Youth, age 16-17 may attend this training with parental consent. Not recommended for younger youth. Certification is normally good for 3 years.

Chili Cookoff and Dessert Auction 2015 will be held in the Gymnasium at Trinity from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2015!
Gather with 100 plus people in a fundraiser for Awestruck Worship Experience and Trinity's Youth Group as more than 25 chili's will be in competition in our 12th annual Chili Cookoff and Dessert Auction.....where YOU are the judge! There is a $10 minimum cover charge per family, as each $5 donated the person will receive voting tickets! Then, we will have a Dessert Auction where more than 50 desserts will be auctioned off in this thrilling and fast paced event fun for the entire family! There will be
raffles, entertainment, and more! Our returners always return so consider coming to this year's madness the night before the "BIG GAME!" Altar Guild: will be meeting on January 28th in the Library at 6:30 p.m.
We would like to give you a free book that will help you initiate an age-appropriate conversation with your child concerning God’s sexuality:
1. Register and Attend a 45 - 60 minute training
2. Go home with a book specifically for your child [gender appropriate].
More details....Sessions include:
- A brief [10 minute] look at what the Scriptures say
- An overview of the specific resource.
- Options to use the resource with your child right away.

If I have different age children, do I attend all the sessions?
This depends on your comfort level. The only similarity between sessions is the opening Bible segment. Each is specifically aimed at the resource for that age child. We would be glad to give the books you need for all your children with your attendance as a single session if you would be comfortable using them without the training.
Don’t the books cost money?
Yes. We believe this is important enough to provide the books along with training so the books get used! If you would like to offset the cost or even provide books for other families, there is a way to do so.
Is this just for parents?
No. Grandparents or other caregivers may also attend and use the resources.
What about childcare?

church office before booking a reception facility to ensure your wedding day can be accommodated on the pastor’s and church calendars.
Library Helpers Needed:
We have lost several of our volunteers to moves and job changes, and are in need of some replacements. If you know your ABCs and are available on Wednesday once a month or more, you may be just the one we are looking for! There are basically two parts to the day, and you may do either or both. From 8:30 - 11:00 we are checking in and shelving returned books. From 10:00 - 2:00 we help students find their new books and check out.
Parents, grandparents, and adult friends are welcome. Child protection training is required. If you are interested, please call Joyce Easterday at 662-8638 or

Blessing Tree: Trinity has received several 'thank you' notes in response to our Christmas
Blessing Tree distribution this past December. The following are just two such responses, but these are typical of the gratitude expressed by many more, including several children. We thought you would like to hear some of these responses.

The Art of Marriage is once again being offered in the month of February.
